MENU
The LOBSTERCON venue is bring-your-own-food. The Dilboy VFW Post is very conveniently located in Davis Square, Somerville, which is home to a wealth of excellent food options for take-out. In addition, we will be offering an entirely optional, yet truly one-of-a-kind opportunity to enjoy Old School Magic along with classic New England cuisine: lobster rolls and clam chowder.
Lobster rolls and clam chowder will be provided for LOBSTERCON by Boston-area institution Kelly’s Roast Beef. They will be served about halfway through the event (likely between rounds 3 and 4).
Because of the costs/logistics involved, please note that we will not be ordering any extras. They will not be available for cash purchase on the day of the event. Lobster rolls and clam chowder were ONLY available by online pre-order. The deadline to order has passed.
If you missed out, or if seafood isn’t your thing, no problem — we’ll provide a list of recommended take-out spots in Davis Square for you to check out. Here are a few of our favorites:
Pokeworks ⋅ Anna’s Taqueria ⋅ Revival Cafe+Kitchen ⋅ Mike’s
Please keep in mind that while LOBSTERCON is bring-your-own-food, absolutely NO BEVERAGES of any kind, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, may be brought into the VFW. We will have a dedicated cash bar for the day offering water, soft drinks, beer, and liquor. Don’t forget to bring cash.
CHARITY
Our charity partner for LOBSTERCON is Room to Grow, a non-profit that provides vital services to economically disadvantaged parents and families in Greater Boston. Recognizing the gap in educational achievement between children born into poverty and their middle-income peers, Room to Grow focuses on serving families from just before their child’s birth through age three, supporting them with individualized parenting education and coaching, high-quality baby/toddler supplies, and specialty referrals to community resources to ensure that their children receive a healthy and secure start in life. All proceeds from LOBSTERCON ticket sales after expenses will be donated directly to Room to Grow.
New England Old School invites you to join us in a baby/toddler supply drive, which will run from mid-September through LOBSTERCON weekend. About 90% of the items that Room to Grow provides to new parents come from in-kind donations. Room to Grow urgently needs items such as clothing, infant toys, feeding supplies, and board books (English & Spanish). There are two ways to help:
The easiest way to help is to order an item directly from Room to Grow Boston’s Amazon registry. Be sure to write “LOBSTERCON” or “New England Old School” in the gift note, and ship directly to Room to Grow’s office via Amazon for your convenience. Once you’ve placed your order, please forward your receipt email to drbard |at| gmail |dot| com so that we can add your donation to our running totals!
The second way to help is to purchase item(s) like the ones on the “Bringing Home Baby” campaign registry, and bring the baby/toddler supplies with you to LOBSTERCON, where we’ll have a donation box on site.
In addition to the cash donation and baby item drive, we’ll also be running a raffle of a few unique Old School Magic items during the main event at LOBSTERCON. Bring some cash and you’ll be able to enter the drawing for some unique Old School Magic-related memorabilia, alters, and other one-of-a-kind swag.
Giving back to our local community is a really important component of the LOBSTERCON experience, and so, on behalf of New England Old School, we hope that you’ll join us in taking this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of kids and families here in Boston.

ARTIST and VENDORS
We are thrilled to share that BRYON MUTT WACKWITZ will be with us in-person at LOBSTERCON! Mr. Wackwitz will be an honored guest, so please be ready to help give him a warm welcome and appreciation for his enduring contributions to the game and community that we love. Feel free to bring cards for him to sign! All of the 93/94 cards Bryon Wackwitz provided the art for are listed here: https://scryfall.com/search?q=format%3Aoldschool+artist%3Awackwitz+unique%3Aart

TRANSIT and OTHER NOTES
The George Dilboy VFW Post 529, located at 351 Summer St, Somerville MA, is easily accessible by the MBTA Red Line, Davis Square station. Arriving by MBTA is strongly recommended — one option for drivers is to park at the MBTA Alewife station garage ($3 for all day Saturday parking) and ride the Red Line one stop to Davis.
For returning players, please note that this year’s venue is not in the same building as last year’s LOBSTERCON. The VFW Post 529 has built a brand-new hall in an adjacent building, just a few steps further down Summer Street.
LIMITED PARKING IS AVAILABLE on a first-come, first-served basis, at an off-street lot adjacent to the new VFW hall building, near the corner of Summer Street and Elston Street. There are other surface lots operated by the City of Somerville at several locations in Davis Square, as well as street parking (pay by meter or smartphone app).
NO OUTSIDE BEVERAGES OF ANY KIND may be brought into the venue. Water, soft drinks, beer, and liquor will be available for purchase, and we will have a dedicated bartender for the duration of the event. The bar is cash only. Bring cash.
