WHAT IS LOBSTERCON?
LOBSTERCON is a community-driven Magic: The Gathering event held in Greater Boston, celebrating the Old School and Premodern format. Since 2018, it has stood as New England Old School’s premier gathering and an annual charity fundraiser for Room to Grow, a Boston-based nonprofit organization.
In recent years, Premodern has become a defining part of the LOBSTERCON experience—and in 2026, Duress Crew returns to run the North American Premodern Championship at LOBSTERCON!
(Please note that this is not the standard Old School LOBSTERCON event, happening on September 18-19, 2026.)

An entry fee of $95 grants access to all LOBSTERCON activities, including the two-day MAIN EVENT—the North American Premodern Championship—on Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd, as well as two side events on Saturday, May 2nd: Premodern Unchained (hosted by the Rochester Royals) and Enemy Fetch Premodern (hosted by Order of the Sacred Torch).
Registration for Premodern LOBSTERCON 2026 will open at 12:00 PM EST on Sunday, December 14th, 2025. Registration will be capped at 320 players and will be handled via Spicerack.
EVENTS SCHEDULE:

Please note that this event is separate from LOBSTERCON 2026 registration and is not covered by LOBSTERCON registration.
FAQ:
- Where is the shop? How do I get there? Pandemonium is about a 20-minute walk from the Dante. If you’re taking the T, it’s roughly a 3-minute walk from Central Square on the Red Line.
- Are gold-bordered cards legal? Yes! In true Premodern style, gold-bordered cards will be legal to play at the event.

FUTURE OF NORTH AMERICAN PREMODERN CHAMPIONSHIP
As much as we love the Dante and the space they provide for us, demand for the North American Premodern Championship is higher than ever and we are quickly hitting capacity for the venue year after year. There’s a real possibility we have to move to a larger venue.
We’re gathering feedback for what the future of what the NA PM Champs will look like in 2027 and beyond. We value everyone’s feedback so please fill out this survey. For further details, listen to Nick and Jay discuss on our mid-year update “The State of The Crewnion” on Hardcast. The episode can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, and via RSS.
Thanks everyone! We’ll see you in Cambridge!
